Children's Privacy Policy

 

“Dasatoo” offers a platform for everybody to create or to enroll in online courses. The website enables also the users to chat and to make their information public by posting photos, videos, and comments. The website is designed for general audience. However, we do not exclude children’s (under 13) access into the website. Therefore, realizing the importance of children’s data protection, we stand for it and take appropriate measures to comply with legal requirements.

 

This “Dasatoo Children’s Online Privacy Policy” explains:

  • What information we collect from children,
  • How such information is used,
  • Our practices of disclosure for such information, 
  • How Dasatoo notifies and obtains verifiable parental consent prior to any collection, use and/or disclosure of personal information from children,
  • Describes the means for parents to review the personal information collected from children, to refuse to permit its further use or maintenance of it or to request its deletion.

This Policy is in accordance with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (hereafter “COPPA”).



To use website’s facilities, it is required to create an account. During the registration process, we may ask children to provide certain information for notification and security purposes, including

  • First and last name
  • Birth date
  • Gender
  • A parent or guardian’s email address
  • Username and password
  • Country, City

We also collect IP address and other unique identifiers from children, as well as information about child’s activities within our services, such as which courses he enroll to, tutors and other information related to courses, but we will only use such information to provide and improve our services and to understand user activity while using our services.


The information mentioned above is collected for the following purposes:

  • To create and maintain the child's account
  • To enable them to enroll in courses
  • To respond to correspondence sent by the child
  • To provide notice and obtain verifiable parental consent prior to collecting, using, or disclosing personal information from children
  • To maintain or analyze the functioning of the website
  • To authenticate users of, or personalize the content on, the website
  • Ensure legal or regulatory compliance
  • Fulfill a request of a child permitted by law

We do not display behavioral-targeted, contextual or any other advertisement to children.


Website enables its users to communicate via social networking. However, this feature will be restricted for children. Parents will have an option to choose either to allow their children having a section for social media or limit their account only for courses. In particular, restricted account will not allow children to post public discussion forums, share video or photo content, chat, communicate with or share personal information with tutors other than a username and service usage activity (i.e., lessons completed, etc.). Similarly, tutors cannot communicate with a child user with a Restricted Account except to assign content for the child user to view through the class.


We do not disclose to third parties any children's personal information that we collect other than as follows:

  • With a parent’s permission.
  • Dasatoo may share information with service providers if needed to perform a professional, business, or technological support function for Dasatoo.
  • Dasatoo may disclose personal information if permitted or required by law, such as, in response to a court order or a subpoena.
  • To the extent permitted by applicable law, Dasatoo also may disclose personal information collected from children under the following circumstances:
    • If Dasatoo believes disclosure may prevent crime, facilitate an investigation or related to public safety or protect the safety of a child using our sites;
    • In response to a law enforcement or public agency’s (including schools or children services) request;
  • To protect the security or integrity of the Sites, applications, and other technology, as well as the technology of Dasatoo’s service providers; or enables Dasatoo to take precautions against liability.

In addition, Dasatoo lets its users to interact with each other and their information may be seen by other users. However, parents or children have an option to make this information private and not visible to others.


Prior to collection, use or disclosure of personal information from children we will send direct notice to the parents via an e-mail.

 

By an age screening mechanism, we ask for users’ age or date of birth to verify whether they are old enough to access our website. Once we determine that the user is under 13, we limit his/her access, unless we get verifiable parental consent.

  • Through e-mail notice, we will require parent’s consent by gathering government-issued ID and a photo, which will be compared to complete their identification. After the process is done, this data will be deleted from our databases.
  • Parents may create their own Dasatoo account, so when children try to sign up, they should mention parents’ username or registered e-mail address. In this case, parents will receive a notification on their page informing that their child wants to create an account and needs their approval.

If within 7 days we do not receive parents’ approval or parents do not permit children’s registration, we delete children’s data and do not let them signing up.

 


Parents may register and link their account with their children’s profile to have control on their activities and data.

 

Parents have a right to request us:

  • To review the information we have collected about their children.
  • To refuse to permit our further use or future online collection of their children’s personal information.
  • To delete their children’s personal information.

To refuse to permit our further use or collection of children’s personal information, or to have it deleted, parents should deactivate child’s account from their own page. However, they will have 30 days to cancel deactivation and recover the account

 

To request for these rights, you may make corresponding command through Settings from your profile linked with that of your child, or contact us through legal@dasatoo.com by including your name, your government-issued ID, your child’s username, and your email address, and specify clearly the action you would like us to take. We will try to comply with your request as soon as reasonably practicable.
